Craft or Die

I steam cleaned my entire apartment over Spring Break and decided to celebrate the occaision by having my upstairs neighbors over for coffee and dessert.
I was tired of my old place settings, plus I didn't have placemats that I liked. Well, Mr. Teapot and I spent all day at the dollar store, grabbing things and putting them back. I think we did a decent job with what we got.

The nest is a bamboo steaming basket with a lawn ornament and some dried plant. The napkins are thin dish towels with 3 tiny flowers that were emroidered after purchase. Our napkin rings are dried branches that were shaped that way. I cut them where the curls stopped and seperated them. Once they were seperated I tied 2 of them together with invisible string. The placemats were Mr. Teapot's stroke of genius. They are shelf liner that I cut off the roll to the size I wanted. It was just enough to make 4. My cream and sugar pitchers had garlic painted on them. I sanded them (all night) and painted over them with the same style that they were painted with.

As far as my own supplies, I used some cheap paint, a little embroidery floss and some invisible string. Oh, and old sand paper. I'm so happy to have so much color on my table!

Oh, I spent $10.81
