I wandered through the dollar store looking for inspiration, and I found this poor plain white push light just begging to be decorated.  Wink  I went for accessories that were shiny and would help reflect the light.

Source materials:

Push light, batteries for push light, and aluminum pie tins:

Two packs of buttons (only one pack used), some shiny metallic tape, and some translucent stickers:

And one of those bath puffs:

Glue and thread from my stash were also used.

The result: a much more interesting (but still functional) push light!

I cut a hole in the pie tin so it would go around the push light, and used the silver tape to tape in in place. The back of the push light sticks out so you can still get at the battery compartment. I glued the buttons around the edge of the light, and put a strip of the red metallic tape around the inner rim of the pie tin.  I put the translucent stickers on the light itself.  That bath puff unrolled into a tube of netting several feet long and I used that as the outer decoration.

Here it is in the dark:

I punched holes in the side like one of those old punched-tin lanterns:

I even put it to use during the recent "Earth Hour" when people were turning their lights off!  Grin

Only you would be original enough to make that.  I certainly would never have thought to combine those items.  How creative!

I agree, those are such a clever combo of things! I love the punched-tin look, and the whole thing looks so beautiful lit up!  Cheesy
