I hope ya'll don't mind, but our 'dollar' store is actually a '99 cent' store.  I named the my project Novie, for novientinueve (99).  And here he is!

Novie was made from:

Socks: .49
Cotton balls: .99
Velcro tabs: .99

Humble beginnings

Accessories are made from:
Belly Flops (irregular Jelly Belly beans) .49
Black Gel Pen paper: .49
Religious candles: 1.00 each
Energy drink: .49

Rounded up total is 6.00, the eyes I just had on hand.

Novie was very happy to be all made up and immediately crowed himself 99 cent store king:

Chugged an 'El Sol'

And began hopping off the celling

Before making friends with a monstrous beast.

He said his prayers

And went to browse Craftster.  He likes this bear a lot, and thinks I should use the other pair of socks in the package to make him a girlfriend.

How I made him:

He is just a basic sock monkey made from a pair of dollar store socks and cotton ball stuffed.  The velcro on his hands and feet, plus his 'jointed' arms and legs make him fun to put and pose whenever you want.  His elbows and knees are made by simply sewing over that part after it's all been stuffed.  The Belly Flops necklace and bracelet are made by stringing the jelly beans with a sharp needle threaded with dental floss and tying.  I had to take it off after a while since it started to melt on him- I think a nice fixative would make these better!  Oh, and the crow is just a piece of little notebook paper hot glued with jelly beans on it.

This little guy is so funny!  I love the pic of him hanging from the light.  Those are really cool socks too.
