Some background info: my friends and I have a tradition of dressing up in vintage looking outfits and playing croquet on one of the quads here at school. We're scheduled to play next sunday but it looks like it might rain.  Embarrassed  We'll keep our fingers crossed. anyway, without further ado, my croquet sundress...

I got the vintage bedsheet at a garage sale last summer for 50 cents. The material is really great, so it must have a high thread count or something. I embraced my shirring obsession and used it on the waist, neckline and sleeves.

I took way too many pictures, so I'll just link to them at the bottom so it doesn't take ages to load.

This dress is fabulous, and I think dressing  up for croquet is hilarious.  I mean, in a good way Wink.

I think this dress is great.  I just saw Enchanted - it's exactly like something the princess would make out of the curtains.   Wink

Oh my gosh, I LOVE it!  I had a shirt sort of like this once.  The style looks so comfy!  And I love the total ensemble.  And playing croquet in vintage wear is something my friends and I totally would have done, had we all stayed at the same college.

Love it! And your croquet tradition reminds me of that Louis Sachar book "Dogs Don't Tell Jokes", in which a group of characters don funny hats to play croquet. (Please don't tell me I'm the only person who thinks that reading children's books counts as a constructive use of the afternoon...)

Cute and inspiring. I now want to try my hand at rouching. Is it pretty easy? Since I don't have a serger I was wondering how to get those lettuce egdes.

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

I love this dress so much.It just looks fun to wear. The croquet thing makes me think of the movie Heathers..... I need to watch that again soon. Smiley

I love this dress!  You picked a wonderful style for the vintage fabric!  It also looks very comfy and ready for a lot of events!

I think you are right about the high thread count because your skirt flows so beautifully!

your dress is adorable!  and i mean that in the best way!

i would like to try to make something similar, but I have a question.  is the bodice part and the skirt made separately?  i'm trying to figure out how the unsewed pieces might look like!
