This hat will be part of a space girl outfit. I'm working on the bikini now. I'm also planning on making a matching beaded holster for my zap-zap ray gun.

There are like 1100 acrylic pony beads!


It's the first non-scarf knitting project I've finished. It's actually the reason I started knitting. I kind of love it. What do you think?

you should more than kind of love it! its absofuckingly beautiful and i bet it feels even better to wear. Did you use a pattern or edit one or just make it up? anyhow.. it rocks, and the color possibilties using the pony beads could be extreme... just imagine.

What do I think?

I love it, and I want one too. Did you use a particular pattern, or did you make it up from scratch? Also - isn't it hard to knit with 1100 beads on a bit of yarn?

Aww thanks, peoples! It's a pattern from the Fall 2007 issue of knit !.
I think I was very determined to have such a hat- I started, messed up and started over at least 6 times at the begining. But once i got the hang of it- it was pretty fast.
Also you just string 250 beads at a time, use them up, cut your yarn and string some more.
Now I'm actually thinking of doing one with faux pearls, I think it might look flapper-ish.
