The felting book I purchased said to use Norwegian C-1 batts to create felt durable enough for items such as slippers and hats. The stuff is like 40 dollars a pound though! I was wondering if there are any other fibers that would create a nice sturdy material. Corriedale, maybe?

Fine - Merino, Comeback,
Medium - Corriedale, Leicester,
Strong - Romney, B/Leicester, English Leicester

As well as the breed of sheep, you can look at the micron size.
The larger the micron, the more durable your project will be
