Sending people gifts on your birthday is a great idea. And those are so weird, in an amazing way! I just had to snoop around and look at your previous topics to see what other weird things you've made : ) I'm curious about the technique...what is sintra? And I can't believe you used a knife, it looks like you used more of a sharp pointy thing. The only printing I've done is linocut and lithograph. What kind of paint/ink did you use?

Thanks

Life's a bitch! And then you die...

So you might as well craft as much as you can!

Wonderful! These remind me of something found in an Edward Gorey book.

I used a japanese style V-gouge and U-gouge knifes for the carving.  I carve out little dots to get that stipple look.  What I'm basically doing is stippling with white-or with the absence of ink.

Sintra is a compressed foam material used for signmaking, but it's a cheaper and sturdier alternative to using lino for relief printing.  It's easy to carve, but it isn't soft so if you try using it watch your knuckles.

The ink is black oiled based etching ink, made suitable for relief printing by mixing in a ton of tack modifier.

If you like these guys, you should have a look at my last series.

I sent a letter with each one, telling them I was giving them a big old tentacle hug.  Sort of a squishier nicer version of hentai style tentacle rape.  Or at least that was the general idea I had for it.

I've already snooped some of your other work, I love it!

I can't imagine having the patience to carve out a stipled effect with the knives that I think you're talking about (I barely have the patience for stipling with felt tips). I know no one will be washing their tentacles, but do you know if textiles printed with the oil based ink are hand/machine washable?
