i just moved to memphis!!!

Hey there craftsters
i am a potter/crafter/jeweler/anythingelser who just moved to beautiful memphis.
just wondered what's up and wanted the scoop on this great city.  i do know about memphis in may and the cooper-young fest.  any small shows? any craft groups? anyone want to start a craft group? i'm open to anything! i live in midtown and have a great apt with an entire craft room. holla at me and we can kick it over tea and make stuff!!!

Hey there... I'm in memphis too. I'm not much of a midtowner, but I know people who are. I'll ask a girlfriend of mine (who lives in Midtown too, and is a crafty chick herself) what the scoop is out there.

There are craft shows at the Agricenter sometimes. I buy some of my jewelry from Desert Destiny Designs, and she has a booth set up at a shopping even there today. I love going to the Pink Palace Crafts Fair in October every year, you should check that one out.

I crochet some, and have just picked up sewing (ha! i've done it once!) and embroidering. But I'm always looking to try new things as well. (obviously... see my links below) I also dabble in photography and geocaching.

Hi there.  I just saw this post, so I thought I'd contribute my 2 cents.  I think you guys have already covered the craft shows (at least all of the ones that I know of).  Sadly, Memphis is very lacking in that area.   
I'm a fellow Midtowner who crochets, sews, makes jewelry, embroiders, and tries anything else I can find! 
Rakuette, it's so cool that you're a potter!  I've been keeping my eyes open for classes.  Any suggestions?

Hi there- I just saw this post.  I moved to Memphis about 3 yrs ago.  I am just now trying to get my foot in the door with craft shows.  I havent tried the 'big' ones yet- just church and school shows.  I would love to meet up and craft- I live in Cordova, but can get just about anywhere.  Right now I am into paper crafts and jewelry.  I have always wanted to do pottery, though!  I'll be watching to see if there are recommendations for classes.  Jen

Hi everyone...I also just moved to Memphis about six weeks ago and was hoping to find some crafty friends myself. I love to sew, cross stitch, and alter clothes, although I'm still pretty new at all of it. I would be so great to get together with folks who can encourage my lazy crafting so that I can get better! I would really like to start quilting as art, like Amy Karol at http://www.kingpod.com/. I understand the logistics of sewing squares together, but how do you quilt all those unusual shapes into a sort of landscape? Anyway, it would great to meet some crafters. I live in Cooper Young and work downtown.

Anybody willing to loan a sewing machine?  We have two non-functional machines (really old ones). 

Also, how about a skill swap?
I can teach printmaking (engraving, lithography, monoprints, silk screen etc), soldering/general electronics, chemistry, biology, science, American Sign Language and probably some other random things.

I'd like to learn how to sew (with a sewing machine) and a bunch of other things.

Hey Crafters!

I'm moving back to Memphis in a few weeks, but I wanted to start meeting people before I get home so I don't end up the stereotypical crazy cat lady, lol!

I do alot of work with yarn (crochet, knit, big ass balls of yarn stolen by my cat). I also sew (badly) and do paper mache/ decopage stuff. And spell terribly.

I'd love to meet up with anyone interested to do some crafting, or simply drink tea/coffee.
