I made this for the Decorate My House swap.  I was originally planning on just embroidering the middle panel but once I had it all sewn together I thought machine quilting it would look silly so I just continued to embroider  Smiley  I think it ended up being about 3 feet long and 19" tall.

Here is a close up of the middle that Phizzychick took:

Thanks for looking and thanks for the fantastic pattern Aimee Ray!

Wow your stitching looks great.  I would love somethig like that I just do not have the patience for such a large project.

This is so neat!

I have no skill/talent for hand sewing or embroidery, but I recognize beauty when I see it.  And this is beautiful.  It's sweet and fresh looking.

Your swap partner is lucky!

Wow! Very pretty and inspiring! And I love Aimee Ray designs too.
The center embroidery is very charming.
Did you quilt the rest of it with embroidery thread? Is that hard to do because it's thick?

Thanks everyone!  It was really fun to make and I can't believe that my short attention span lasted long enough to complete it!

Yup, I quilted it with embroidery thread because I was worried that machine stitching would look out of place.

It wasn't difficult at all.  I used iron-on cotton batting that is pretty thin so it wasn't too thick.  The hardest part was trying to handle it during the quilting since I didn't hoop it  Smiley

Very nice. I love it. I am impressed with the embroidering/quilting. It looks awesome with the three separate panels. Great job.

That is beautiful. I've been tempted to try quilting with embroidery before. I guess I'll have to now that I know it works this well.

Your swap partner is lucky!

You're right, I am so very lucky! It's so beautiful, and I love the varigated thread weaving around the outside too.

It hangs on a wooden pole on a wall above the head of my bed, pride of place! I'm hunting for just the right twig/branch to hang it from though! Grin

Ah - gorgeous embroidery, I love the shape of the birds, and it's beautiful the way the stitching continues off over the panels.

What did you do on the back for hanging?

Just a quilt hanging sleeve.  Actually, I think I did 3 small (6" or so) ones.  One on each end and one in the middle.
