Is there a smooth surface ont op? Did you put modpodge or anything over the paint chips? If you run your fingers over the chips, do the edges come up, or what? Ya know what I mean?

envyus - ummmm... how best to explain it? okay... uh. the colorful sides of the paint chips are stuck to the stick side of the contact paper, so its all smooth contact paper, and behind it is the paint chips stuck on, and then it's stuck to the wall... I'm not sure how else to explain it... but I'll try if that didn't make sense. Cheesy

yep. it's clear. Cheesy I buy mine at goodwill on the cheap, but it's also at target, walmart, dollar tree, fred myers, winco, basically any grocery stores. Cheesy but that's in my area, and apparently the northwest US has crazy random stuff... hope that helps.

Wow! Once when I was renting a house, I did wallpaper my bedroom with contact paper...it was scary how fast it ripped down on moving day! I like the extra element the paint chips bring to the idea!

hey y'all this is Sitki's husband

I really liked the project when my wife showed me the picture and we are in the same position as everyone else... renting = no painting = no fun.

anyway when we went into town we picked up tons of paint chips from a couple of places and made a small project on a skinny wall we had

Then she thought out loud we could do cool stuff with this in a mosaic, instantly (being a nerd) 8-bit came to mind and a nano second later mario brothers and the 1-up mushroom popped in my head

(I put the 8.5x11 sheet to show relative size)

the next project is a 11 squares wider and 17 taller but I think it'll be awesome, it'll be 1800 squares Shocked , and it'll have the same background

and our roommate wants the duck hunt dog with a duck in his hand... so that'll be next Smiley

anyways... after all that, THANKS A BUNCH for doing your project and posting it for the rest of us... it's been a lot of fun!!

This is an awesome post- i work at a hardware store, so will be stocking up on paint chips bigtime!

I'm sorry to be the foreigner, but what's contact adhesive? Is it the stuff you cover books and other such stationery with?

sitki (well... sitki's husband) - wow! I'm so excited, that is totally awesome, I'm so glad this inspired other people. and I love the picture you made in it. Cheesy
wow.  I'm a huge original nentendo nerd. I wish I had a room to do that in... Cheesy

sonofeat - contact paper is usally used to line drawers in the kitchen, and is made in alot of patterns, but they also make clear. I know that they cover library books in it (I worked at a library doing that for a year) and I guess in clear you can cover lots of things (I cover my gameboard bags in it to help water proof.) ...I just realized I suck at explaining, so if you need a better explanation, just let me know and I'll try. Cheesy
