Soooo ... my baby is due in June, and morning sickness made me not want to knit, but one day DH demanded that I start making things for baby. OK, OK!! So I took out all my knitting mags and books and told him to choose a pattern, knowing full well that he would want an earflap hat and a "manly" theme (we're having a boy). He chose the luggy bonnet from Weekend Knitting, but since it's knit flat and has way too many color changes, I ignored him and made this:

It's a combination of the Li'l Devil Baby Hat found here:
http://www.kittyville.com/knit/devil_hat.html

and the Pirate mittens pattern found here:
http://www.helloyarn.com/piratemittens.htm

This was my first stranded knitting project so I am verrrry proud of it, even if the sides are a little wonky (I made it using the Magic Loop method) but I'm sure the baby won't care!  Wink

It's very cute and manly all at the same time.  Wink  And I don't see anything wonky at all.

Awesome! You have to post some actions shots when that little cutie pops out. He's gonna be the most hardcore baby at the playground in that skully hat!
