I posted some of my cakes yesterday and people seemed pleased with them so I thought I'd post a few more today.  First is a cake I did for my Christmas display.  The characters are handmade out of fondant/gumpaste, and the tree is an ice cream cone with royal icing "needles" with a gumpaste star.  The charcters are sitting on a gumpaste plaque so that the nativity scene could be kept after the cake was cut and served.  The writing on the cake is luster painted onto royal icing. The ribbon on the bottom cake is not edible.

This cake was done for my cousin's wedding last July.  She saw a photo in a Martha Stewart Weddings magazine and asked if I could replicate it.  This is what I came up with.  Three tiered fondant covered hexagon cake with stamped fondant.  Handmade, handpainted bamboo accents are gumpaste/fondant mix.  Flowers are silk. I'd love to give credit to the photographer for her wonderful work, she's a great woman, but unfortunatly I never recieved her contact information.

I'd rather see people eat them than see them rot on a shelf! People forget that though a lot of timegoes into the decorating of the cake, I've also spent time working on my recipes to be sure that they are delicious, too!
