I don't think it's wrong when you made the pattern for yourself and you are making it just for you.
If you were making and selling them it would be entirely different. But you're not. Smiley
I totally love that cake! And I can't wait to see the finished version!
I also love your hand stitching it's so nice and neat!

what a neat twist for a wedding cake. i'm in awe over it!

I think thats awesome, and seriously, who cares if you borrowed the idea from someone else? Its your wedding, and your actual design, thats what makes this unique.

I was so excited when I saw this post, because I have a friend who is getting married soon and she also adores the ann wood cake toppers. She has had a few un-sucessful attempts at making her own, and I was wondering, if you might share your pattern.

Pretty Please!  Smiley

She would be soooooo grateful.

that is the best wedding cake i have ever seen...i dont know anything about the cake toppers you were inspired by but your are very cute and i think its a great idea to use birds instead of generic people.

I went and looked at Ann's birds on her blog for an idea of comparison and I have to say, I like yours better. I think hers are nice but I like the simplicity in fabric choices you made better than her crazy busy plaids and checkers she made.

I think you did a very good job and definitely would love to see the finished product with the wrapped legs and on top of the cake Cheesy

How adorable!
And I have to say I love your cake and topper choice.

My wedding was nature-inspired too, but more river-like than woodsy.
Here's my cake. Smiley
