Doctor Who Scarf Knitalong

A knitalong for the Doctor Who fans out there.

Would anybody be interested in knitting their own Doctor Who scarf with me?

id do it, but mine probably wouldnt look exactly like the one on tv, why not do something like knit a scarf the same size as the doctors and see how different people make them in color, etc.



ps trivia vknowledge for all you fans of the older series, the doctors scarf is so long because the lady who made it was given heaps of balls of wool and told to make it how she liked. she wasnt told how long to make it through, so she used all the wool!

Oh absolutely! I started one when I was 13. It's about 15" long. I'm 22 now. I found it in my wardrobe at my mum's when I was clearing out last month. I clearly need motivation to finish it off!

I'd love to do this. It'd be fun to have a really stress-free (and somewhat mindless) pattern to do that would also be fun. :] And Doctor Who, of course!

My husband wants one of theses scarfs so bad. But I Figured up the yarn I would have to buy just to make it the correct colors. It was over $100. I Can buy one hand knit for less than $40. lol So I told him no.

But I am getting the yarn together here and there in some cheap Caron Simply Soft yarn. So he might just get it one year after all! (man that will take me forever to knit! I have a hard time knitting a normal scarf! lol)

I, for one, would be interested in what Caron SS colors you decide to use.

This remains a sort of "maybe one day" project for me. Right now, I shudder at the thought of adding that much yarn to my two yarn bins. (Not that I could add that much.) But one day...

I wanted to knit one of those for over a year now, but the last time I made a garterstitch scarf I very nearly dropped dead with boredom. And all those stripes produce about a million ends to weave in. So I really want that scarf, but I really don't want to knit it. Maybe over christmas. It would be a very very relaxing holiday-knit.

I am about to embark on this particular adventure, if anyone else is still going.  I've made my shopping list (I'm using Vanna's Choice--washable, often on sale, not too scratchy for DH, and the colors are looking pretty good so far), all I need to do is finish up my nephew's baby blanket for Christmas first, and then it's hello, 20' of garter stitch.  But, I get new needles, which makes it all okay.
