OK... so I admit it. I am impatient. This is my second plied yarn. Really, my second skein of yarn. I posted my first a couple months ago. (Yes, I take breaks and pick up way too many new hobbies, so I have to share the time)I really love the look of this yarn. I's mostly heavy worsted with accidental bits of chunky throughout. It looks like I spun it that way on purpose. But I didn't. I was actually going for even yarn!!
I also think I overspin. My yarn is just a bit "firmer" than the handspun I didn't spin myself. I tried spinning it less... it pulled apart. More... too firm. Some places are perfect, some aren't. But I love it and I did it myself. I'm just hoping that I can master this soon!!!

Spinning even takes practise and patience, but I like the look of yours probably even more, I'm more of an uneven kind of girl...

I think I've finally overcome my overplying issues.  It takes a lot of self control not to twist the heck out of it tho!

I actually like the look of a yarn that has more tpi when plying than less.

Frankly... I think it looks fantastic! Speaking as a new spinner and fairly experienced knitter, I think it's just fine if handspun yarn has some unevenness to it. After all it's handmade and not mass produced! And it's only your second skein? Fantastic job!

I "overply" all the time.  But then when I go back and spin a "balanced" yarn, I hate the way it looks.  So my "solution" to the overplying/spinning thing was accepting that I just liked to do it that way.

As for the evenness, patience is the answer there.  Try predrafting alot, and then just go slow, and anytime you hit a chunky spot, just stop, pinch it off and untwist it a bit, pull it apart to thin it down and then let the twist back in and a little more.

It's my experience (and I could be wrong here) and understanding that if you overtwist and THEN overply, it actually creates a really good sock yarn, and it balances it very well.    The trick is to both overply and overspin.
