Yay! I have been dying to try this ... so I had an ugly old women's plus size dress shirt from some stuff my mom gave me to to cut up! I love the fabric, so I made a Cheytown dress for my 9yo DD! I love it! Sorry I forgot to take before pics, I was so anxious to chop it up!

Here is Cheytown's tute:

Here it is complete:

I used the collar of the shirt for the front little flappy thingy (LOL), it was my first time pleating too! I centered it and pleated out from each side so that the collar edge would stick out on either side of the straps:

Back detail of pleats:

And the back of the dress:

Oh, and I used the neckline (under the collar) and top button to make a matching headband!

Thanks for looking! And comments & criticisms please!

i love it! i can only imagine how scary the original shirt was - and WOW what a great dress it made! it looks really fabulous on. and great use of the collar and neckline! clever clever. i also like how you angled the front to go up higher than the back.

That looks so fun!  I've seen so many great Cheytown dresses for toddlers, it never occurred to me that you could make one for an older girl.  Great job!

I'd love to try it, but here I am with two sons and three nephews. I recon my DH's shirts into... smaller shirts.  Cheesy
