Is there such a thing as crafter's block?  I am totally stalled at the moment.  I have one brilliant idea, and can't seem to get any further.

Absolutely! I find that the best thing to do is to start browsing websites like Etsy, or the person's wist, or other sites, jotting down notes, until inspiration strikes. I also like to take a couple of days away from the problem, and then return.

Does anyone know if you're allowed to bring sewing needles and mini scissors on an airplane?  It's probably a poor idea to sew on the plane (what if you lost it?) but I'm traveling a lot this month and was wondering if I could bring those items in my carry-on bag.

I was on a plane this weekend and took a pair of 99 cent nail clippers to cut my yarn and that pointy file thing was removed. They didn't say anything when I went thru. (and I had a plastic yarn needle in my pocket shh....)

Thanks for the advice.  I think I'll try the etsy site.  I've already been through her wist.  That's where I got the ideas that bombed.

Might just take a day off and do something unrelated.

what types of crafts/mediums do you work with, and what areas of science interest your partner?

Perhaps another round of crafty inspiration posts is in order? Smiley

I just went to etsy.com and looked up the keyword "science" and found a TON of great pieces for inspiration.

I just found http://www.sandgrains.com/ , which is all "microscope art." Gorgeous!

This is a REALLY cool article about how physicists are using knitting and crochet to understand hypersurfaces:

Make magazine's 5th issue was all on science!

Hope that helps... Smiley

I just have to wait until payday to buy all my supplies, and then hopefully I'll be able to craft it up like a madwoman!  If anyone needs some ideas, feel free to PM me.  Brainstorming is never a bad thing, and I've got a million and one ideas floating around in my melon!  LOL!   Grin

I could also help brainstorm ideas if anyone needs it!

PS my "small" project has overtaken my "medium" and "large" ideas in time consumption.  I think I'm going to have to shuffle my plans around.  But I'm having a blast making them, especially as they are helping me zone out from all the stressful uncertainty surrounding my future right now.
