Alright ladies and gents. I have run into a handy number of forums lately suggesting easter egg dye as a fun way to dye fiber and seeing the results totally sucked me right in. The colors were so vibrant and cheerful, I had to give it a try. I divided my BFL roving I bought from helloyarn.com into 1 oz pieces for each tablet (6 tablets total) and let the magic happen~

The ziploc bag for the blue completely ripped and the purple and green were leaking so there were patches of blue in both but spun up, the green looks like turqoise which made me uber happy so that was a lucky accident ^_^

I used this tutorial http://blueeyedknits.blogspot.com/2008/01/from-zebra-stripe-gum-to-easter-egg.html

Oh yeah and did I mention the dye's 100% food grade safe?

Enjoy and don't forget, easter egg dye goes on sale after Easter *hint*

That is way cool! I never would have thought to use easter egg dyes. And it's probably cheaper than cake dyes, so it's now at the top of my dye experimentation list.  Cheesy

I especially love how the purple one came out. I would love to see that one spun up.

They look great! I love using egg dyes, and I'm eagerly awaiting all the after Easter sales Smiley Check your local dollar stores, they usually put them 50% right away!

First of all, thanks everyone for your loverly comments~

ruledbyvenus I'm spinning the purple and green together which looks beautiful and splashing the purple with other colors. Will add pictures when I'm done =)

adiemonster The kit I used is called Egg Coloring Kit. I got it at walmart and I think it's their own brand. Did you remember to add vinegar to your solution? I soaked the fiber in a vinegar water for about 15 minutes then mixed the tablets with a generous amount of vinegar before pouring it on the fiber. That usually does the trick.

I just used easter egg dye to make some roving pretty on my own too!

I love the pastel colors I got since I let my boys have a crack at making some fun roving. I've spun it already and I'll share it tomorrow in the fiber friday post,  theres not much but it's so much fun! I've got to decide what to do with it.

And today I bought more egg dye as it was half off   ^-~

I tie-dyed some shirts with egg dye. I just bought a ton of it last night on sale. Cheesy
