Thought I would share my most recent project... the bedroom ceiling!

The paint is black and metallic gold acrylic. We have a ceiling fan there as well, but it's usually on, so it doesn't get in the way much Smiley
It's not quite completed yet, as you can see.  But it's so close!!  My back has been somewhat sore this last week, so it's been delayed a little bit...but will be done, soon enough.  When completed...the entire knot will look like the section on the left of the picture...outlined, clean & crisp Cheesy  Sorry if the photo isn't the best...I had to lay on the floor with my head half into the closet to get the whole ceiling, LOL.

It's not my original design, so I would like to give credit to where I got it from...this website...http://www.aon-celtic.com/ She says..."This little knot was derived partially from a pattern in the Book of Kells. Only half of it appears on the bottom of folio 32v, but I doubled it up to make a complete circle from it."

I am considering bringing the wall color up into the ceiling a little bit as well.  I don't really like how wall & ceiling colors create such a distinct line in every room.  I would like to create a wave of knots on the ceiling along the perimeter...with the dark grey wall color.  Just enough to pull the walls upward... It's hard to explain..but I can see it in my head Wink and hopefully will post it, if it ever comes to life.

Shocked  That is unbe-freaking-lievable!  Wow.  Wanna come paint my ceiling?
How did you get the design up there?  Did you use an overhead projector and trace?

Wow, that's amazing, I don't think I would ever have the patience to do that. And it's on the ceiling! Geeze, good work!

Hehehe!  Thank you so much!  My luck...I would say "SURE! I will paint your ceiling!" and it would turn out to be the size of a small gymnasium Tongue  I always get myself into predicaments like that...

I wish we had a projector when I started it Sad  I drew it out a while ago... and a few weeks after I finished, my boyfriend bought me one!  Grr!  Oh well, I suppose I have one for future projects atleast Smiley & it was a lovely gift!!

I just free handed it on the ceiling pretty sloppy & light in pencil, then touched up the lines with the paint as I went along.  The very outside circle... I used a long piece of yarn, attached one end of the yarn to the edge of one of the fan blades and the other to my pencil...then ran (jumped on all of the furniture around the room, LOL) around the room until it drew a complete circle.  Sort of a life size protractor  Cheesy

I love this ceiling!  I have been admiring celtic knots for awhile, and haven't come up with a good way to incorporate them into my home design yet.  This is inspriational.  I am thinking of a smaller version, and making a stencil...an using it as a border.

You really did a wonderful job!

Ahh.. a stencilled border would be awesome.  Go for it Wink  It's a lot of fun... and a major conversation piece.  I hope you decide to...and WHEN you do... post photos! Cheesy  Thank you so much for the compliments.
