I have been doing a lot of painting lately, and a lot of thinking about painting/making/creating. I decided, for the time being anyway, to spend more time painting things that give me joy. What could possibly give a mum more joy than her kiddo? So I painted a portrait of my dear little boy. It's the largest painting I've ever done (30" x 20" acrylic on canvas) but I kind of wish I had done it a bit bigger. I'm really proud of it and wanted to show it off.

Here is an 'in progress' shot...

Here is the photo I used...

This painting is really very pretty.  I love the colors you used, and the overall effect is very soft and loving.

Very nice, i'm really impressed.  Do you do a lot of portraits?  Definitely paint things that bring you joy, why paint then?  My grandmother was a great painter, I still have a lot of her paintings, I know that your son would love this, especially when he's older.

Thanks everyone for your nice words.

jktormala: I've been painting up a storm for the past little while, but most of my work has been silly things like wizards and transvestites, this is the first 'serious' portrait I've done. And I totally agree with you... why paint things that don't give you joy? Sadly, a lot of people do.
