I don't know what it is, but lately all I want to knit are mittens.  Teeny tiny mittens.  I can finish one mitten in a few hours, they're a good way to use up stash yarn, and I'll give them away to charity once I'm all done!

These are made from Lorna's Laces, which is lovely, soft, and superwash - unfortunately, I can't figure out how to knit with the rainbow colorway without it looking muddy.  I like mixing it with the white to break it up a bit.

These are from Lion Brand Wool...  Not crazy about the colors, the yarn was a gift - someone will like them!  I also figured out how to make the top of the mitten less pointy (reading the directions correctly helps!)

The pattern is from Ann Budd's Handy Book of Patterns, which is an amazing book.

Cute! And I like that you are giving them away to charity. They will make someone very happy!

Yay charity knitting! That's what most of my knitting is. Mittens are great, aren't they? Fast. Enough shaping to be interesting, but not so complicated you can't do anything else while knitting. Perfect. Last year I had a mitten binge myself. This year its hats for me though.

I especially like the white stripey ones.

Those look fantastic!
And way to go on giving them to charity to keep some tiny hands
warm....
If you want to hold on to them until fall, I know of a really
good charity drive:
