You could easily do one of the illusion scarves.  It's just knit and purl.  Just keep track of which row you're on with a sticky note.  They are really neat to knit.  And everyone will be so impressed with the illusions. Smiley

I'd also back an illusion scarf, my (then) 12 yr old brother LOVED the alien illusion scarf I did for xmas for him.  So much so he's asked for a blanket like it!!
