I know, I know, how corny is it to have mother/daughter matching Easter dresses, but I couldn't help myself!  Cheesy

I drafted my dress entirely from scratch (with inspiration from imnotasuperhero's tutorial). I'm really proud of it because of that...it's the first wearable "people-sized" clothing I've made without a purchased pattern! (Not doll-sized or baby-sized).

The applique is adapted from a greeting card...I'm still debating on whether or not the cherry blossoms need red centers for contrast. What do you think?

I made my DD's mostly from scratch...I basically took the shape from Simplicity 3853, but completely changed the neckline/strap/sleeve structure. I haven't cut out bloomers for her yet, but I'll be doing that tomorrow. I think I might also make a pair of coordinating pants (maybe using this tutorial?) so that when she's bigger she can wear the dress as a top.  Cool

A few more action shots...

And a close up of the applique:

Oh, and disregard my camera. It puts an ink blot on my face whenever my DH takes pictures. Tee hee!  Grin

What do you think? Can you forgive the corny combo?  Roll Eyes

Very cute! And there's nothing wrong with matching outfits! When I was little my mom made outfits for her, my sister and me so we matched every Easter Smiley

So Cute!  We are allowed to be matchy matchy while they are little!  I think they are charming and the pants are a great idea.

my mom used to make matching dresses for us too when I was little and I loved it! I do think red dots in the middle of the flowers would look nice, but either way the dresses are beautiful! Good job!

You guys look fantastic!  Not corny at all!  And both dresses are lovely.
