I made the skirt from an old pair of my sister's shorts that I found in my closet. It was like Christmas when I found a whole bag of her old dockers, sweaters etc. She hated wearing those long shorts (she's 30 now) but they are quite handy when one wants a white sailor skirt. I didn't put the skirt in the reconstructed section because I'm MORE proud of the red shirt. It's a button up that I made WITH A COLLAR and 6 buttons! I'm so excited that I can make my own clothing now. It looks like polka dot fabric, but really, they are little red hearts. It actually reminds me of valentines. But the red shirt has puff sleeves and I like to wear it with my sailor skirt and newsboyish vest. Now I have a matching outfit!

that red shirt is adorable.  you are far braver than i, to make something with buttons...that aren't just for decoration.
