I'm just curious how the locations for the City Guides are determined.  I live in North Carolina, so Virginia and Atlanta are kind of pushing it in the crafty travelling! Smiley
Can there be a city guide: Carolinas?

I live between Raleigh and Durham, in Cary.

Wilmington is cool, though.  I love the Raspberry wheat beer at Front St. Brewery!  We try to hit Wilmington during the summer a few times, since it's only about 2 hours away.  Any crafty places/thrift shops I should drag my boyfriend to on our next trip?

my husband and i lived in cary for a year. we're hoping to move to apex when he finishes school.
i usually hit the usual places: ac moore, joann's, etc.
we have a couple of quilting stores but they're hellaciously overpriced.
there are some pretty cool stores downtown that sell kitschy-cool fun stuff. and if you're into shells we've got the beaches  Roll Eyes
we do have a few good street fairs if you're looking to sell your stuff. my mother-in-law and i are planning to have a booth at the azalea festival.

if you make it down for the festival pop by my booth and say hi  Smiley

I've been to a cool yarn store on Wade Avenue in Raleigh, but that's not really my thing - I was there shopping for some yarn for a knitting friend Smiley  The azalea festival sounds fun.  I'm new to this area, only been here about 7 or 8 months, so I'm not up on all the NC happenings.  I apparently missed the Pig Festival, which was in June. Smiley haha.

i lived in carrboro/pittsboro/chapel hill for a few years before i moved to hot springs, which is northwest of asheville, just a mile or 2 from tennessee.  and my best girl moved when i did, from carrboro to beaufort.  so we drive across this longlonglong state every year.  man do i despise I-40!  but both ends of nc are well worth the travelling-i just wish the beach and the mountains were a lot closer.

I just moved down here permanently last June.  I definitely want to check out the mountains when it gets warmer out.  (Not a winter sports person!).  Definitely Asheville.  Is Biltmore Estate worth the $40 admission price?

I've been to the Outer Banks quite a bit and my aunt and uncle live in the Charlotte area, so I've just got the mountains left. Smiley

And I take I-40 to work every morning.  It has its moments. Smiley  64 is an interesting route from here to the beach, parts are like highway and others go through countryside.  Very weird.  I-85 has a Waffle House on every exit.  And lots of outlets.  haha.

Oh, and I really like Chapel Hill.  The shops on Franklin St. are fun to browse - that crazy Time after time thrift shop has way too many interesting relics.  Not to mention its wide variety of evening activity.  haha.
