Okay, well can I say I love this pattern? I usually make view E or F.

So here are some dresses I made from this pattern:
Here I made view F and added a ruffle to the bottom.

Here I made View E and just used the overskirt instead of both skirts and added a ruffle.

Here I made View F and added a ruffle.

So I love this pattern. That's all the pics I could find on the laptop but I've made over 50 dresses from this pattern. You can see more at

For anyone making this pattern or considering making this pattern: I highly recommend this pattern. Especially if you are new at sewing and want to make your daughter a few dresses. You can dress them up or dress them down. You can make them playful or picture worthy. They only take about 3 1/2 hours from cutting the pattern out to topstitching(which the pattern doesn't call for but I do it anyways). And that includes adding a ruffle which you don't have to do either. If you want to add a ruffle to a dress just cut (2) 4 inch strip by the width of your fabric (normally 44-ish), sew them together at the 4 inch sides to make a long tube, hem or serge the edge, run a gathering stitch, pin it to bottom of dress matching side seams, adjusting gathers, sew, then top stitch it down. Viola! Any questions feel free to ask or PM me. I just started sewing 2 years ago and I'm very grateful to all the fellow seamstresses and craftsters who helped me along the way.

Wow! Beautiful! Your lovely daughter looks like the belle of the ball in all those great dresses. Does she like to wear them all the time?
WAY back when, my baby girl (now 19) refused to wear dresses, and it nearly broke my heart.  Cry
I will make a note of this pattern for future granddaughters, though. (one of my boys is engaged)
Thanks for sharing!

Your dresses are almost as lovely as the little girl wearing them! I love your fabric choices. I also started sewing a few years ago and love it, but have not tried any clothing (so far just quilts, bags, texture books, and blocks). You've made me want to try a dress. Beautiful work!

After seeing all the beautiful dresses you made your gorgeous lil angel I went and bought this pattern though I have not done anything with it yet I have big plans. I wish I could find the fabric you used in the second picture of your lil girl its still in my favorites in my profile and the fabric in #7.8 and 9 Love it!

I am so glad you stopped and get it. I had it for almost a year before I used it. I don't know why some patterns intimidate me. I mean it says NEW LOOK so you know it's easy. How intimidating can it be? I'm so glad I finally used it. I made the ring around the rosie one first. Then I loved it so much I cut out the pattern on 10 fabrics at one time for dresses. This was on a Sunday Night and by Wednesday Night I had all of them sewn together, ready for lots of twirls.

Adding this to my list of patterns to buy and bookmarking the thread for later help.  My favorite is still the one that you made with the two different cowboy fabrics!  Thanks for posting about the sewing of this.

I just made one of these dresses yesterday (view F, I believe).  It really couldnt have been easier--even with having to downsize the pattern to fit my two year old.  I'll def. make several more since I was able to squeeze all the pieces on less than 1 yard of fabric.

Your daughter is too cute!!

Thank You. When I make dresses for my 2 yr old neice, I use view E's overskirt piece for the skirt portion so it's not too long and then tighten the elastic in the back. I'm so glad you found this pattern easy too. Can't wait to see the dress! You'll have to post some action shots soon.

Those are ALL adorable, and it sure looks like she loves them!  Grin
Since I don't have a little girl to sew for, I need to make some of those in *my* size...lol...if I could get away with it I would!

I've made two of these dresses- one was a Tinkerbell pattern as a gift (so no pictures  Sad ) and the other one just needs the straps attached and the bow sewed on. I think I'm going to put a ruffle on it with the same bow material but that might be too tricky.

I have some great fire department fabric that I bought at Joanns, I'm going to make a dress out of it as another gift. I just don't know if I should do the whole dress in the same fabric pattern or if I should make the top part red with a red ruffle on the bottom. hmm.

Any ideas or more pictures?

I make about 5 of these a week but my daughter gets tired of photoshoots. This is the only other pic I have of this dress pattern.

I personally like the criss cross bodice pattern the best. Post a pic of the fabric and maybe we can give you some more ideas.

Quick question....how hard would this pattern be to enlarge for my very long, skinny 6-year-old do you think?   You make everything look easy and I love the dressed you've made.  Mine's a twirly girl, too!  Thanks!

if you are making the view the litle girl is wearing then just measure her front and cut the bodice out so the top portion measures that plus seam allowance. You could lengthen the bodice or the skirt portion or both.

I was just looking at this pattern!  It looks so versatile.  I'll have to add it to the list for when my (now 9 month old) dd is older.

A huge THANKS to Kaymadben for bringing this pattern to my attention a while back.  I finally made a couple of dresses from this pattern and the cross over halter was my fav.  Very easy and quick.

I have made three of these dresses, one D and two A's. My niece loves them so much and they're so easy to make! As a beginning sewer, this pattern is really nice to learn from. I haven't attempted dresses E or F, but now I think I will!
