Those look so awesome! I love the details for each character, especially the staff that Gandalf has. Totally awesome. Smiley

They are all so wonderful! I love the basic simplicity, then all the detailing works so well. BTW, how did you attach the hair, and how did you weigh down the later ones?

My husband is a huge LOTR fan (as in, we have several LOTR-themed board games  Roll Eyes) and I made the mistake of showing him these photos. He left the room, then came back, and asked in his most innocent voice "So...do you maybe want to make me something?"  Cheesy Wonderful work! They look great, and so nicely detailed.

BTW, how did you attach the hair, and how did you weigh down the later ones?

I wrapped the hair around a piece of cardboard, sewed it down the middle (with my machine) and then hand sewed it onto the head with invisible thread.  Let me tell you, each of these little guys probably has 1000 pounds of invisible thread on them.  Then I cut the looped ends on either side of the head, except for the hobbits of course.  Leaving the ends wound makes their hair look curly. (I hope I explained that well enough...)

We actually just weighed down the little dudes with big nuts (like, nut and bolt nuts, not...any other kind of nut).  The dudes are small enough that the big nuts weigh them down, even people like Gimli, who was a huge helmet on his head, or Boromir with his shield.
