OK, so here's my problem.

You cast on 60 sts
knit 4 rows
then you're supposed to do this step, which I'm going to copy and paste:

Row 1: Knit 2 sts, *(k1, ssk, yo, k2, yo, k2tog, k2), repeat *8 more times, then k1, ssk, yo, k1

Here's the thing the math is all wrong. Inside the parentheses is 9 sts, you're supposed to do that for a total of 9 times, plus 5 stitches, which equals 86 sts, not 60.

What the heck? I can't find any pattern errata, and it seems like no one else is having problems with this scarf. Am I just being really stupid? Is my math wrong? Are my stitches wrong?

Or am I right, and no one else has mentioned it? Is this like.. a big secret that I wasn't supposed to mention?

So yeah, I'm really stressing about this because I can't possible see how 86 sts fit into 60.

I'd really appreciate any help with this, whether you've made this scarf or not. OH
here's the link to the pattern so you can look at it yourself if you think that would help.

Thanks in advance,

I haven't made this scarf but the math is definitety wrong.  I would do *repeat 5 times(6 times total) instead of *8.  That gives you 9x6=54 +k1 +5sts=60sts.

Just looking at the scarf I think she only did 5 repeats of the lace pattern and then the last section (Like quiquesmom said)

Yeah, I figured. But I dont' understand why no one has emailed her about the error in the pattern... also, she says ssk in the directions, but in the chart key she says sl1, k1, psso and they're two different things. I know they both do the same thing but, man, pick one. yargh. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
