Did anyone catch the zipper clutch in Readymade?

I tore apart an old pair of pants and started sewing ever zipper I have on to them.  The sides of the purse are the back pockets from the jeans, and the zippers run across the purse horizontally.

a few questions before i finish.
1.  Some of the zippers function as passageways into the purse, some as passageways into secret change pouches, and some do not function.  I can't decide if I'm going to cut the joining fabric on the zippers that do not open the purse so they do.

2.  has anyone done this before?  My sewing machine was not excited about sewing zippers all day, so the purse is handsewn.  Tips?  I did learn that if you are putting a zipper on that does not have to absolutely work as the closure, you can sew it directly on to the fabric and cut afterwards.  did that make sense?

3.  I'd also like to make a rectangle shaped purse using fabric and zippers.  Everywhere there is a seam, I'll use a zipper instead.  Ideally, the entire purse could unzip from itself.

i scored a bunch of zippers at the thriftstore and thought about making a bag just of zippers. I think if I just sewed about 12 of them long sides together and sewed up the ends, it could be interesting..
Maybe I should try it.

I'm working on getting my blog up, check it out! Smiley
