Swap name: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 8
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Jewelaroni
Co-Organizer: JRSloane1
Sign-up date range: March 17 to March 31
Date to send item by: May 5th (this should be a nice long, low pressure swap)
Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): Nope
Restricted to people who all live in the same country?  Nope
Age requirement: 13, just like Craftster says!

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: Yes
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: Yes
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now:  Yes
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: I already have, just in case. JRSloane1

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: Yes
- Has posted at least 15 times: Yes
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: Yes
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: Yes
- Does not have any negative feedback: Yes

Details of swap:
This is the MAGIC YARN BALL SWAP!!  You will send your partner a project kit consisting of a one (or more) skein pattern and yarn of corresponding weight/length for the pattern. The really fun part is that you will first make the yarn into a "magic yarn ball."  This means that you re-wind the yarn yourself, hiding little trinkets and treats inside the yarn as you go.  Some ideas already suggested include tiny toys; candy; crafting supplies; jewelry; etc.
A good description of a Magic Yarn Ball is here:  http://whipup.net/2006/04/25/kids-yarn-project-the-magic-wool-ball/.

Since we're all crafty people, it goes without saying that we should craft some of the treats ourselves. As a guideline, 15-20 things in the yarn ball and at least 4-5 of them should be small crafts made by you.
This is a little different from the past Magic Yarn Ball Swaps. You will also be required to craft one (1) MEDIUM item, which doesnt have to be wrapped in the ball if its too difficult.

Also, while I know not everyone can afford it, if its only one skein, try to get the nicest yarn you can afford. Im not saying go buy a forty dollar ball of cashmere yarn (unless you really want to, in which case you can be my partner!) but try to get something youd be excited to receive. Do unto others and all that

When you sign up, let your partner know if you already know what you want the yarn for ("I would like yarn so I can make the MagKnits Sophie Bag"); or, if you have a general idea ("I would like yarn and a pattern for a felt handbag"); or, if you just want a surprise pattern. If you have more than one idea for a pattern, feel free to give your partner a choice of patterns (or books) to choose from.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:
Send this questionnaire via PM, and please include Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 8 in the subject for EVERY PM.

Also, please list the crafts you want in the order of which youd like most for easy matching purposes!

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap. You should read this whole thing so you not only understand whats expected of you, but youll also see what Im expected to do.

PLEASE do not ask your partner for a photocopied pattern from a book. This is against copyright laws.
Although I'm fairly certain you can handwrite a lace pattern or cable pattern from a stitch dictionary, as I don't their copyrighted.

In this swap discussion feel free to talk about one skein patterns you love, good websites with patterns, and places to get yarn some people may not know about!
Also, if youre not a member of Ravelry (www.ravelry.com) yet I suggest you get yourself on the list. They make it really easy to find wonderful patterns online and its totally free.
