Hey, sealing them with resin is an awesome idea. Cheesy I have a partially finished record bowl that I made a couple weeks ago. I need to finish putting pictures on it so I can make it into something awesome. Tongue It's been sitting on my dresser for a couple of weeks.  Embarrassed

it's easy to forget about! I've got an old record bowl I've been using for years & of course it's the last thing to get the resin treatment.

I'd really like to get started on some new stuff like including pictures or painting on them.

just wanted to shout out to everyone....to avoid the ultrasmelliness... use a large mouth pan or pot of boling water (wear protection...its easy to forget youre working with BOLING water!!) ITS wayyyyyyyy faster and you can remold and refix things as easy as 1 2 3!! see, i have a lil one and didnt want to smell the house up,, so turned the exhaust fan on and boiled some water...viola! beautiful molded records....someday i'll finish lurking and post my expansive collection of projects!! goood luck!!

what a great idea!! I don't have to worry about poisoning ay offspring so usually I turn on the ceiling fan & open some windows & hope for the best, this is a great solution!

one question: don't the labels get waterlogged in boiling water?

Great idea and cute bowls. Have you ever mixed trinkets with the resin? Like those tiny beads, glitter, sequins, fibers, etc.? Also wondering if you fill the hole with resin before or after you melt the record.
Thanks.

I've been thinking about taking it a little further w/the record bowls, but I'm always afraid to add too much stuff & make them gaudy (like not in a good way)

and, to answer your other question, melt the record first, then coat w/resin

so here's my question:

what would be cooler?

1. record bowls how they are, they look clear but actually aren't

2. the hole in the middle has a great, cheesy picture of the band, like this:

obviously a better quality image than that, but I've got Jefferson Starship "We Built This City" & I love Grace Slick's big hair in the video, so I would sink something like that in the resin.

so... what do you guys think?
