Grin I'm a million times more excited about this than anyone else, I've accepted it. Please read my post anyway.

So you know what sucks about record bowls? the hole in the middle!
especially when you've got alot of super-cool 45s your sister played to death in high school. They're no longer playable, but still embody memories from your childhood...

my solution: seal the bottom of the record w/resin, now it still looks like a record but functions perfectly as a bowl! (or coaster! I made those too)

et voila! see? 45 records that hold tiny beads!

here's the bottom of the bowl holding beads

...and coasters

assortment of coasters:

issa miracle!

close up (Dude Looks Like A Lady by Aerosmith, hahaha)

I'm so glad I finally figured it out! I've literally had these bowls sitting in storage for years waiting for the solution & here they are Smiley  let me know what you think.
I think I might start painting the bowls or adding pictures in the record hole or sometin.

Those are great! I've been collecting records (that I wont listen to) to do this for my hubbys studio but haven't yet...when they go in the oven do they make your house smelly or are they not in there long enough?
smart idea with the resin Cheesy

So you, could spend the morning walkin with me, quite amazed. As I am unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed.

yeah they smell, & the fumes are toxic so make sure to open all your windows & turn on a ceiling fan, preferably get a window fan going

Really cool! At what temperature did you melt them? Did you form the pleats by hand or did you put them in a pan?

umm, I think the temp was 300 degrees, but I don't remember, I haven't melted any records in a long time.

as far as the pleats they pretty much happened on their own but I usually have to help them along a little.
