Felted Stone Rug

Hi there, you inspired me to make one, which went to a recent swap partner. It's mainly unspun fiber; maybe 15% of the stones were actually yarn.

I humbly bow before your skill and patience...It took all month for me to make this, with my hands so worn and dried out from all the scrubbing, and it's way smaller than yours! While the larger versions people have discussed would be dreamy to say the least, it takes sooo much time and work to get it to be big enough to fit your feet onto.
Then sewing the string of stones together was another challenge; I intended for it to be round but it wanted to be jar-shaped.   At any rate, it was quite a project and I'm rather proud to have finished it but wow, yours is still the rockingest.

Calluna yours looks so good!!! I love the natural look you acheived for your stones!  It took a long time to make mine too and many times I wondered what on earth I was thinking but the end result was worth it.

BOTH of the rugs shown so far are truly stunning. i actually *just* finished sorting out all of my wool scraps, and while i don't yet have enough to make this project, i am working up my stash...slowly but surely....because i was *MEGA* inspired when i saw this post originally!

When I first saw this project I was hugely inspired.  I *Love* the look of the stone rug.  I didn't want to try because I have never felted anything before (well not on purpose, there was my cashmere sweater that once, but I don't like thinking about that). 
I just got back from a fiber festival with my guild.  I have a pound of un-spun kericle and about half a pound of other sheep wool.  I have a 7 hr car trip this weekend and a package of those little felting needles....  I'm about to start.   
I'm hoping to loosely felt it enough into a ball to do the pantyhose in the washer trick. 

This project has been in the back of my mind for almost a year.  Thank you so much for planting the seed.
