I made this box for my boyfriend a while back. I got some crappy Avengers comic, some scissors, and so Mod Podge and went to town. He uses it for change and various junk.

I love the captions. They're so corny.
Spiderman is saying, "Hey! What can I say? I hope we can live up to these awesome dudes and ladies!"
Vision is saying, "I shall have to ponder this predicament at great length to come to a feasible solution!"

My favorite. J. Jonah Jameson saying, "I knew that moron was going to use the word 'awesome'!"

You have officially inspired me to make something similar for my fiance...the only problem is that I think he'd have major trouble sleeping at night knowing that I cut up a precious comic (corny or not!)

I like how you made the box look visually balanced, even though there's a lot going on, and the color palette is very limited.  Did any of the ink run as you modpodged?

if you want to do a box like this of your own but don't want to cut up Klassic Fifties Komix!! or whatever: the spiderman comics in the newspaper are just as corny! so much so that my spiderman-fan boyfriend refuses to read them. you get less milaege (inchage?) per strip than you would per comic book but it's guilt-free.

you're not dying. you just can't think of anything good to do.
