I'm sorry if this is off topic but I wanted to relate a situation that I would like to spare my fellow Crafsters from.  Basically, I was swindled out of $240 by a fellow crafter from one of my Yahoo groups.  She was offering to sell several volumes of the vintage sewing pattern books that I collect and stupidly I sent a check.  Not only have I not received anything, but I believe those same items are listed on Ebay. 

What I'm saying is that there are people who give crafters a bad name and ruin it for the rest of us who are honest.  Please do not send anyone money that you do not know or buy anything from a place that you are not protected.  I knew this but I fell for it anyway. If anyone has any ideas about how I could recoup my money, I would be grateful.  Don't let yourself be disllusioned like I am.

I am so sorry. I wish I had a good idea for you, but all I can do is offer you my sympathy. It stinks that someone did that!

Thank you for your support.     I wish it hadn't happened but if this post can protect one person then I'll be happier.  I'm currently looking into legal options and reporting her to Ebay, Yahoo and basically anywhere I can so that others won't fall for her scam.

you could try talking to your bank and telling them to cancel the check.  They may be able to do something.
