I second Goldhawk road but don't forget to wonder into Shepherds Bush Market as there are lots of stalls selling material, and one stall selling just ribbon, buttons and zips etc, really reasonable price and very helpful.

Also a good place to buy cheap ballet type shoes, and random cooking ingredients.

Not central London but I always shop at Rolls n Rems in Lewisham... two floors jam packed with every material, buttons and ribbon etc you could possibly dream of and at a really reasonable price too!

I second that about rolls and rems, it's a fab shop and they are very helpful.
Also you can often find a lady called Maggie on Lewisham market (not sure what days she does sorry).
Maggie has some great meterials and some of them are only a pound a metre.

I'd rather be hated for who I am.
Than loved for who I'm not.

I forgot, Kleins in Soho is the most amazing haberdashery shop, they stock everything! Cheesy www.kleins.co.uk

And it was VV Rouleaux (www.vvrouleaux.com) for the ribbons, recently featured in Kirsty's Homemade Christmas special on Channel 4.
