I stumbled upon this pattern, and thought it was too cute.  It's a vintage Aunt Martha's.  I stitched it on a denim bag with variegated floss.  The flowers are french knots and the rest is my version of the stem stitch.  Here it is:

I am really pleased with how it turned out, this may be my favorite embroidery so far. I love the winking girl owl the best. Wink  Thanks for looking!

That is darling! The variegation really looks nice.

How did you make the transfer visible on that dark denim?

I used transfer paper to get the pattern on.  I bought it on createforless.com, it's called Chacopy Tracing Paper.  They give you different colors in the package, I used the white.  You just lay it face down on the fabric, put the pattern on top, trace it out and voila! Smiley  That's mostly how I get all my patterns on, even the Sublime iron on's because I seem to always screw up the ironing somehow!

I could never make a french knot either, until I read the directions in the last Sublime Stitching book.  For whatever reason, I could finally understand how she explained it.  Don't give up, once you learn how, you will be be unstoppable! Smiley

Ahh, the illusive french knot. Yours look wonderful. Your owls look great. Was it hard stitching on jeans? I haven't tried it yet.

It wasn't too hard stitching on the denim.  If my string was too long I did notice it getting tangled up more than usual.  Give it a try!

Thanks for all the nice comments! Cheesy

Where did the stumble happen?  Just curious, my girls are really into owls right now along with the rest of the world.

It is really lovely btw.

Birds definitely are the thing to embroider, lately I've stitched owls, penguins and the doodle-stitching birds.  I'm not even that into owls, until I saw all the cute things people have done recently with them on craftster. Smiley
