I think me and rboecler   managed to shop at the same place for appliances.  well mine was here when we  moved in this house I am praying it breaks so I can get a new one LOL

Hilarious! I inherited my crappy oven from my husband. I think it was one of the first ones ever made. He thinks if it still gets hot that it's OK to keep using. Boys, they just don't get it - Oy!  Grin

Mine realized how bad ours was when I stopped baking the breads and pies  and cookies he loves so much.  4 years it took him to  say " OK you had enough of a  break I want the goods again"  I  sweetly said honey I told you this oven is terrible I need a new one.  so now he is trying to figure how to get a  new one.  (this one is built in and elevated its gonna be an expensive task to replace it.)

but I have started to bake a few  things  here and there cause its driving me bonkers to not bake.

They look great!! I am so glad you liked them. I made some with the lemon cake mix and they were good and just the merest hint of lemon flavor. I want to see a pic of the loaves you make this weekend!
I will post more recipes as I bake them because I like to post pics of the finished recipes. Maybe foccacia or breadsticks or cinnamon buns or Wills favorite big soft pretzels. I think my son and I are carb addicted.
I think I might try the jiffy rolls as a base for a cinnamon bun.

I  thought of the  carbs  too.... I know I am supposed to not have  many!  LOL  yeah right. But I have 2 kids and BIL and  SIL and their personal care home and the employees right next door.  that way  I can make all I want and not have to eat it. I just send it on.
I will take pics of the loaves. and I thought the jiffy rolls as cinnamon raisin crossants.  or as cinnamon rolls.  Oh  and as monkey bread. mmmmmm

Deisels_Mom  you ROCK!

OK  I did the  loaves. But dumb me used french vanilla cake mix (big betty crocker box measured to 9 oz)    and made it way to sweet and they did not rise very well.
here was what I could steal way to get a pick. I made 2 small loaves on Saturday. here it is sunday afternon all  is gone!

Then this morning I made the french vanilla gain but rolled it out and spread butter then sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on it.... again these did not rise as well as the  first batch of plain rolls using the jiffy mix.
here is the freshly rolled and cut ready to rise

then after baking

and with icing.

they look kinda  flat in the pic but they really weren't  they were about 1 1/2 or so thick.  also little  note the rolls and loaves I baked at 350 instead of 400.

they look fantastic. did the cake mix have pudding in the mix, maybe thats why they didn't rise so well? The loaves would make awesome french toast dont you think?

I  don't  think it did.  but  maybe!  not really sure.  could be that it was colder in teh house than the first time.  but the french vanilla makes tehm MUCH sweeter.
they are very good. and I bought some lemon mix gonna try taht. maybe throw in some zucchini(sp)

What is that jiffy cake mix stuff? I live in Sweden, and as far as I know, we don't have anything like that here.
Anyway, the rolls look really yummy!
