It's my first project in the round and I am getting nervous. I've already had to restart five times or so and I really don't want to screw up and have to cast on another 84 stitches....  Embarrassed
When it says to put stitch markers every 12 stitches, is that during or after the first 3 3/4" I do in St st?
Do I start decreasing right away, I guess is the right question.

Here is the finished hat! I am so stoked, I did I-cord and magic loop for the first time too!!

Yes, I am wearing clothes. And I'm paranoid about revealing myself to the internet...

Hey!  I have SnB open in front of me and I'm just checking.  You put the stitch markers AFTER the 3 3/4" of st st. and decrease from then onwards.

Thank you! That's what I thought, but it was kind of vague, and it's the first hat I'm making without a Knifty Knitter....

You're welcome! I hate vague knitting patterns. I think some designers think we're mind readers Smiley

Yay! I'm so glad to see the completed hat, it looks very cute! I really like the colour you chose.

That turned out awesome!  I really like that pattern.

I hope you won't mind if I ask a question in your thread, maybe you can help answer.  When you're supposed to place the markers so that you decrease every 12 stitches, do you keep decreasing every 12 stitches all the way to the top?  Because as the hat gets smaller, that really doesn't make sense, wouldn't you start to increase more frequently?

I just didn't see anywhere in the pattern where it tells you how to change the increments, or is this common knitting knowledge?

Jumping in once again - you decrease before each marker - you use the markers to know where to decrease, rather than the number of stitches.  Hope that makes sense.
