Mystery Quilt - along?

Hey!

So I am relatively new to craftster but already in love. I'm a long time quilter and one of my *favorite* things is mystery quilts.

So..I wanted to see if anyone wanted to do a mystery quiltalong. I've got a ton of mystery quilt patterns and instructions. I could send them out step by step in emails or post the next steps here on the board. Whichever people wanted.
I wasn't sure if it should go a step a month or a week? ...well, I have a million questions but I wanted to see if anyone was interested.


Anyone want to give it a go with me?
What size quilt would you all want to make?
Would you like a step a month (so..four to six months to get all the instructions) or a step a week? A step every two weeks? I wouldn't want to bog down anyone's craft room with this project.

Well, I'd probably be willing to do this with all my old fabric scraps, but I wouldn't be able to keep on a regular basis.  Too many trips

17 days in June
14 days in July

But I'd still like to give it a try...

Wow!  A mystery quilt would be awesome!

I would totally be up for it!
I would bow to what everyone else would want, but I think that 2 weeks or a month would be good for the frequency of the steps.

72" by 92" or so would be a good size or whatever a twin or throw size would be.

Hey!

I'm glad ya'll are interested! I just got my very own crafting room set up so this weekend I'm going to get it organized and find all my patterns. I'll look for something as close to twin sized as I can. That seems like a good set.

I'll post whatever the first step to whatever pattern I find on....Monday? Or is that too soon? I could wait another week if needed. And if I'm having trouble picking patterns..I'll probably give you guys options.

I won't be able to start on anything for a week or so.  Whenever it's convenient for you to post the first set of instructions, would be early enough for me! 

I need to organize my quilting space on Saturday!

I can hardly wait to wade through my fabric stash to choose fabric for this project!

Twin is good for me too.  especially if I'm making blocks.  i dont need to make blocks, but if you have a pattern for 12 inch by 12 inch blocks, i can pair them with the denim checkerboard ones im already making.

but im not too picky.  if you give me a twin, then OnlySiamese and I can do the same one, which might be easier for you!

I am so very sorry. In the past three days my car has broken down 45 minutes away from my house in three different directions. I've been completely stranded. And it sucks.

I'm going to try my very very best to get the patterns I have laid out posted tomorrow. I've got time in the morning. As long as I don't get stranded from work.

Alright then. The car worked today. Yay!

I've got two patterns because I couldn't really decide. Both of them are kind of traditional but I'm really interested to see how they actually turn out with fabric choice.

Pattern One - Part One

Quilt Size - 51" x 51" (An odd size..I know...I couldn't resist playing with this pattern..it's named the Atlanta Mystery which is where I live  )

MATERIALS:

Color A (Dark)  - 2 yards
Color B (Medium) - 1-1/2 yards
Color C (Light) - 1 yard
Backing Fabric - 57" x 57"
Batting - 57" x 57"

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:

From Color A (Dark) cut:

Seventy-two 2-1/2" squares
Forty-eight 2-7/8" squares
Thirty-two 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles
Two 1-1/2" x 40-1/2" strips for inner border
Two 1-1/2" x 42-1/2" strips for for inner border
Six 2-1/2" x 42-1/2" strips for binding
From Color B (Medium) cut:

Ninety-six 2-1/2" squares
Two 4-1/2" x 42-1/2" strips for outer border
Four 4-1/2" x 25-1/2" strips for outer border
From Color C (Light) cut:

Eight 6-1/2" squares
Thirty-two 2-1/2" squares
Forty-eight 2-7/8" squares

*Personal Note...I'm going to be using stash fabrics so I'm going to come up with 2yards total of Dark out of a mixture (same with Medium and Light) and do a very mix and match quilt. I have no idea how it will turn out but that seems fun to me

i'm doing Atlanta too!  I have relatives in Marrietta and it just looked less confusing...
