23 new AI2 diapers for my boys. ..

I have just finished up a batch of 23 large AI2 Chloe Toes diapers.   

I made them as AI2's this time around.  - snap in soakers (I attach
snaps at top and bottom of diaper - holds better for me w/o as much
shifting while attaching to child. . .)

Anyways,

the 'specs' on these diapers:

the shells - consist of:

PUL (either DIY, gingham pul, or 'regular' pul)
inner contour soaker layers attached to alova suedecloth

the inner contour soaker layer is made of:
1 layer warm and natural batting or microfiber
2 layers cotton french terry



the snap in soakers consist of:

alova suedecloth
warm and natural batting or microfiber
cotton french terry
flannel

this makes a grand total of 12 absorbent layers.

Oh, when looking at the pics, be understanding that I have been learning
how to use my embroidery machine - so these have been my experiments. ..
I learned a lot while embroidering these.  Most of the diapers have
flaws with the embroidering if you look real closely.  My next diapers
will be even better.

Wow, these are all great! It must have taken you forever to get all those done! I love the embroidery, and I think it's funny that boys will be wearing diapers embroidered with flowers. 

P.S. I have the same laminate flooring (is that the right word?) in my kitchen!

aw, thanks!!  really i've only been working on them for the last month or two - off and on. . .

i believe that since *I* do the diaper laundry *I* should have the kind of diapers to look at that make me smile.  and my boys don't mind.  heck, the younger one CHOOSES the 'pretty' diapers a lot!  His favorite colors are pink and purple. . .

and that laminate you see - it's actually my kitchen table.  *grin*  I'm very pregnant right now and bending to the floor to lay out the dipes, not gonna happen right now - which is why there are so many pics instead of just one big shot. ..

ps  my oldest has been asking for the 'monster' dipes for weeks, so i am pretty sure that's what he's gonna choose to wear first!

They look absolutely brilliant! Have you ever thought about selling online?

A couple of questions:

Did you use FOE or lycra binding for the edges? I had dreadful issues with wicking with the one nappy I used FOE on (my girl did mega-wees when she was small).

With the DIY PUL, did you just get normal PUL and add an extra layer of fashion fabric?

I used 1" FOE that I got from Coop - thisendup  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/This-End-Up/  Seriously she has the BEST FOE available!!!  it doesn't wick and the colors are true. ..

I had cotton woven fabric laminated (that's the black ABC fabric you see in the pics)

and the pink/purple/cream fabric is actually 100% polyester fabric that I had laminated . ..

glad you liked them!!  they work REALLY well on the boys!  today was a real test for them because i was out of town with the kids at medical appts all day so they were only changed between appts - every 2-3 hours. . .instead of more often as they would have at home. .

that's EXACTLY the pattern I use. .. I just ADORE the chloe toes pattern on my kids.  (one kid is skinny, the other is chunky) and the diapers fit great on both. ..   (all because of the FOE and under belly fit!

I am very impressed! I made 2 diapers so far , but didn't find this pattern yet. Do you have any link to it? Since I'm trying different patterns and fabric out to see which one will fit best to my little girl.

This is one pattern that's totally worth it to buy.  I cringed initially spending so much for 'just' one pattern, but i'm telling you, it's awesome!  My kids wore size medium for well over a year. .. my 4 yr old is just now fitting well in the large. .. the 2 yr old can wear either medium or large. . . 

I am having such fun exploring what the embroidery machine can do.  My machine is over 12 years old.  it's a bernina bernette deco 500 (first one made by bernina - it was a partnership or soemthing with brother at the time. . )

Thank you for such fast response. I examined the page and I like the stuff there. I already printed the diaper cover pattern and I'll try to find 1in FOE - I'm not sure I'll be able to find it here though Can the pattern be altered if I don't find it? I don't want to buy something I couldn't use...

I was just looking wishfully at Bernina's Aurora to become my new sewing machine... and your wonderful embroidery just made things worse
