I love casting on because i'm always so excited about my new project, but I (like so many others) hate the part where I have to frog it cause i didn't swatch. I also hate hate
hate
the last few rows or inches before i bind off, cause i'm usually so excited to get DONE that last little bit is torture to get through. Lastly, seaming sucks. Somehow, i always coordinate losing all my tapestry needles with finishing a project, and by the time i'm done i just wanna show it off, not sit there and stitch it all together.
This all has me thinking...someone should start a business where they just weave in ends, seam stuff up, and do all the gross knitting stuff people hate. they'd make a ton of money off me!

I will do anything to avoid seaming. I knit everything in the round, top down whenever possible (almost always). I pick up around the armholes and knit sleeves top down - which has the added benefit of getting the sleeves long enough. The only drawback is having to flip a whole sweater around while knitting the sleeves, but to me that is a small price to pay.
Weaving in ends is my #2 hate. When switching to a new strand of the same yarn, I alternate the old and new strands for a few stitches, leaving tails hanging, then do the same with the working yarn and the tails on the following couple of rows. When the tail gets to be only a couple inches long, I stop knitting with it but still "trap" it behind the stitches - that way it's all woven in as I go.
If I'm switching to a different color, I'll just trap the old yarn (a few stitches one row, a few more the next) until the tail is used up. This also works for colorwork where I'm repeating the colors, so the non-working yarn isn't stranded loose across the back.
(As my dad always says, "Leave it to a lazy person to find the easiest way.")

3catnight: I feel exactly the same way. In fact, I have been trying to figure out how to knit a seamless cardigan. All the cables and bobbles don't bother me. Neither do the pages and pages of pattern I have to follow. It's those darn seems that have kept me from starting another. Here is my post about it:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=212357.0
I would love it if you could go into more detail about picking up for sleeves.

Weaving in ends is my #2 hate.
I completely agree with you on weaving too.
I have 2 purses and a hat sitting around collecting dust waiting to be seemed and/or weaved. Blah!

Seaming things together.. weaving in the ends.. I always think that what I'm doing isn't enough.. that it will show, and that the woven in ends will pop out no matter what I do!
ALSO.. why is it when you get to the last 2 inches.. you knit and knit AND knit.. and it's still almost 2 inches away to the ending.. so, the last 2 inches is really 5 inches by the time it ends up measuring 3 inches!!!

Lol, I love weaving in ends. That is totally zen for me. Because the item’s really kinda done, and after all the knitting weaving in ends is kinda refreshing. And it really is brainless work so I can do while watching a movie. And it turns out so neat!
Seaming is also zen. I more often than not have to re-do them, but it’s all about making it just right. Seaming and weaving in ends is when I really feel I love the project. I feel like I’m just working with a slightly disobedient child – sometimes annoying yet adorable.
Casting on is fun. And especially trying new cast on metodes
Superfun!
I hate casting off. I don’t hate the act of doing it, but I hate the anxiety because it rarely turns out pretty. And then I have to re-do it. Hate!
I aslo hate it when I’ve freehanded a sock and then when I start on the second one don’t remember what I did, like how many stitches did I work the heel and such. But that is usually when I make one and then don’t make the other for a month

Can't stand casting on. Seeing a number like "cast on 98" makes me shake. Once I'm past the first row I get over it. Another one is making a hat I love only to find out I look bad in it. Thank goodness I have two daughters and a GD waiting in the wings. One of them gives it a good home.
Me too. I have a haunting feeling that it may be because I'm not doing it right

I would like to pay someone for weaving in ends, it's so - urrg. Most of my projects are waiting half of a year to be finished. But that's not enough- i don't know why - I dislike them so much on me, so that they wait another half a year till my sister's/brother's/mom's/dad's birthday... sad sad sad, how can i change myself? Sometime it's not satisfying.
