mmmmm... fabric!

I just re-stashed my fabric supply and have been having lots of fun sewing up some new goodies. Here's a few of the things I've completed recently.

Apple Mouse Messenger bag: Made from some fantastic wool and cute japanese import linen blend fabric. I just love it!


Ahoy Clutch: Some more fantastic wool and anchor applique on front.


Sweet little sheep wallet: More import fabric! I love how this wallet turned out.


Birdy Zipper pouch: Found this fabric and had to have it!


*Whew!* I still have more things I'd like to make too. Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

I do heat bond all of my appliques on first. Keeps them steady and easier to satin stitch.

Jealousy is a curse, isn't it?  I am sooooo super envious of the craftsters like yourself who can "just make things up as you go"....I make many mistakes and stuff ups, even following a pattern!

I think I pretty much wist everything you make, I really aspire to design bags and sew as wonderfully as you! You really have a knack for pairing fabrics and design.

Seriously, practice, practice, practice. I sew all the time, I've been known to sit in my studio for eight + hours at a time just sewing. Try new things! I don't remember the last time I used an actual sewing pattern, but when I was just starting to sew I tried as many as I could.

Pay attention to design and construction when you see pieces you like somewhere. Once you understand how things are put together it's easier to start designing your own sewn items.

I still make mistakes all the time, (followed by a loud :sigh: or :ughhh: that can be heard a block away!  Wink ) but it helps me learn. And learning is good.

Just keep sewing, just keep sewing, just keep sewing, sewing, sewing.  Tongue
You'll get there!!

And BDDesigns.. I haven't forgotten about you!! Letter soon.. promise!  Grin
