Inspired by the theme of challenge 73 (spring cleaning - something from a drawer) I whipped up this key rack from a shaddow box I had lying around, left-over fabric from our curtains, a cool ring of chunky keys I bought 9 months ago especially for this project, and some screw in hooks. Unfortunately, I forgot to take before pictures, so it's disqualified! Means I don't have to wait to post it though!

10 minutes of work and absolutely functional: instant craft gratification!

WOW, that is beautiful!

Your junk drawers put mine to shame, too.  I want that awesome bundle of keys to appear in mine!

Oh that looks so cool Smiley Now that's something I would hang in my house. That sucks that you can't enter, I bet it would have been one of the best entries.

I got those when we just moved to the Netherlands, and were trying to familiarize ourselves with the shops they have here. This was greatly reduced in price (I think they were 1, marked down from 4) in one of them, probably because they're pretty much only usefull for decoration purposes. At that time, I just KNEW I had to buy them and that an opportunity to use them would simply present itself. Besides, I couldn't wait for opportunity to present itself to buy them, because it was the last one left! There were still plenty of rings with rusty tools, those don't look nearly as nice when they're hanging down. You'd need to get them off the ring, but it's a solid ring, so you can't (or well: we don't have the right tools!)

They are HUGE by the way: the frame is 25x25, so I think the biggest key is about 12cm?

I LOVE it! I have a obsessive fondness for skeleton keys and have tons of them around the house but they usually end up getting stolen by my little ones. I'm going to have to steal them back....
