Well, I wasn't going to submit to this challenge. I'm moving soon and am honestly getting sick of my hometown. However, I decided to post this site I made while in college (and living in Chicago) when I was really homesick for St. Louis. All the photography is mine. It's meant to showcase a few of the lesser known attractions in St. Louis.

Hey you have a Jewel Box in your town? What is it exactly? I see it's a building but what do they do there? I live in Capitola (Santa Cruz), Ca and our "Jewel Box" is a grid of streets all named after jewels.   It's cute. We even had a group of women in a mystery book club write their own book about Capitola called "A Jewel Box Mystery" I love the front page of your site.

Here's a rundown of the "attractions":

Butterfly House: A big glass building filled with butterflies.
City Museum: A giant jungle gym. Really nutty and hard to explain. You can read more here.
Central West End: A cool neighborhood where I grew up.
Jewel Box: A giant greenhouse. My babysitter's daughter worked here, so I spent a lot of time growing up there, too.

I love how lots of cities have things of similar names that are not at all alike.

I had to reply because my husband is from across the river in IL and so vacations are always in St. Louis to visit family. My kids LOVED (and so did my husband and I) the city museum. So much fun. And the Butterfly house was very pretty my daughter still remembers visiting and its been about three years! Just had to comment!

The 'Lou is my second home, since I went to Wash U. I miss it horribly (except the icy sidewalks). I lived in CWE, too, across from the Archbishop - which always made for fun. Heh.

Now I'm craving Provel cheese, and all the crazy crawlspaces in City Museum.

Oh man, the City Museum is absolute HEAVEN (I will always be a kid ). I went to St. Louis a about a year ago and and completely fell in love. We didn't have a lot of time to do things, but everything we got to do was awesome (except for when the arch swayed in the wind- kind of scary). And your site is really cute

You can't forget the Magic House, The Arch, Art Hill (awesome hill for sledding) and a few others. I've grown up in St. Louis too. I just recently moved out to Jefferson county (about two weeks ago)... I still find myself thinking of my old house and start to cry.

Anyway. St. Louis can be a bore... but it'll always be home =)

Hooray! I was hoping someone from STL would post, since I didnt have time. I have lived here my whole life, aside from college, and I love it.

I was at the City Museum just last Saturday, and I am pleased to say that there is a spectacular vintage clothing store on the 4th floor. You have to pay the entry fee to go up, but come on, who wouldn't want to play and shop at the same time?!
