I love your entry!! I was born and raised in Sanford, FL -a hop, skip and jump from Oviedo!! I do remember the chickens hanging outside the Popeyes...lol!!!  I didn't move far, I currently live in College Park/Orlando.

Pogo, actually, I DID get stuck on that ride once.  We sat on it for about 20 minutes, and then they had to walk us off of it.  Fun, fun, fun!  I was just waiting for someone to snap.  Glad you all like the cookbook.  It really makes me happy to look at it!

I've been stuck before too but they finally got it going. The person about to snap would have been me though. (Only time I've rode since was by force. )
I read this louy book recently that had a nice quote: "It's a medium sized world actually."
Sorry yet another tangent - were you around when everyone was up in arms over the Latin newscaster who pronounced it "Oh-ve-ay-do" instead of "Oh-ve-doh"? Your city rocks.

I go to UF and my bestfriend/roommate is from good old Oviedo! So I've met all sort of you lovely Oviedo people over the years. I love what you made! I'm definitely showing it to my roommate right now.

Hah...no, I wasn't there during any "Oh-vee-ay-doh" hoopla.  Although, no one should be irritated by that, because that's how you pronounce the name of Oviedo's sister city, Oviedo, Spain.  From what I understand, it started out being pronounced that way, and us Southern weirdos changed the pronunciation.  So now it's "oh-vee-doh", or, as I have heard from some of my more "Southern" acquaintainces, "Oh-veeder".  Ah, the south...how I miss you.  And Oviedo is remarkably un-southern for being so far south.

Yeah, that is an interesting quirk about those of us from Flori-duh, we are a southern state but realllllly not from the "South".
That's interesting to hear about the sister city in Spain though, nifty!

Love your "Chickens of Oviedo" description!  I drove there almost daily for the couple of years that my Dad was in an assisted living center there. On MOST of my trips... I saw the chickens... just strutting along the side of the road.. right near the center of the older part of town!  Always made me smile. 
I like your recipe book cover!  Very clever!
