Cute vase  for the carnations snip a wee bit off the bottom and add red food colouring to the water - the white carnations will absorb the dye and change the colour in bits

I used to live in Toledo.  I lived there for 4 years, originally from the Cincinnati (I'm back there now).  I liked Toledo, I liked the very little traffic on the highways, loved the zoo, and loved our neighborhood.  We lived in Old Orchard and the trees were beautiful.  When we moved back to north of cincy I had to find a house that had mature trees, which in the land of new construction was hard. 

Anywho, I like your vase I've never tried to etch.

Cute vase!  I used to live in Perrysburg along the Maumee river and my Dad worked in Toledo for Owens-Illinois years ago when they still had a research/development department.  Great to see Toledo represented here!

I love that you used a local glass-maker to create your project. And I've never done glass etching before, but I know how much patience and precision silver etching requires, so if it's anything like that, you're to be congratulated.

I'm starting to learn Ohio's not such a bad place to live after all. I'm from central myself (greater Columbus area) and now that I've gone off to college and traveled a bit, I realize the suburbs ain't so bad after all. ^_^

That's how I am too. I'm an avid traveler and returning home to NE Ohio is always sweet for me, I love our state. I think I might borrow the idea of the stenciled state and heart and turn it into a t-shirt. That way no matter where I am I can have a little reminder of home. I love being inspired by other craftsters! Thanks!

Don't forget NW Ohio also carries the roots of studio glass blowing.  Dominick Labino's home studio what just outside Toledo and he invented a lot of the tools and techniques that made it possible for small scale glassworking.  The Toledo Museum of Art has a great glassblowing facility as does the art Department at BGSU.  One of the coolest things about living in NW OH is that you walk into a building and can see huge Labino installations.  They are gorgeous.    I got to watch him work once while his wife explained what he was doing.  It was incredible.
