I finally had some time to make a bag that I had in my mind for a long time. I have been using a brown one (also self made) for about six months and really wanted something more colorful.
I used a vintage pillowcase and some green fabric from my (ever growing) stash. I had some very specific wishes. The front pocket with the elastic is big enough to hold my notebook when I'm trying to be a reporter for our local newspaper. Ever tried to juggle both taking pictures and writing down speeches at the same time? I really needed something to drop the note book in quickly and take it out even faster. Inside the pocket is a smaller pocket for my cellphone and two penholders.
Inside the bag is a big zippered pocket and a smaller with a slit opening (because I ran out of zippers). It closes with a button.
I tried to take pictures of the inside and the pockets, but they were horribly dark and blurry, so here's just one of the bag itself.

Very nice, I like the elastic for the pocket - I have been thinking of making a pattern using elastic.

Very cute and functional.  I dig all the pockets, and the elastic pocket is perfect.  Love the fabric and the shape-- even the little pearl on the front top.  Great job!!

Great purse.  I made a purse just yesterday out of a pillowcase as well.
