YOu have officially scared me about the petticoat!  I heard netting is a pain.  Have you thought about using crinoline?  I hear it's much easier to work with and it's less scratchy than netting.

By the way....I hate it too when pattern companies make something so much harder than it has to be!  Why do you want to torture us?Huh? LOL!

OOoopsie!  LOL  I didn't mean to scare you!  This is my first time w/ netting.  Not sure I'd use it all that often, it just sticks to itself and is all over the place.  It's kind of frustrating.  The petticoat isn't really necessary but I thought I'd go all out.  I've never used crinoline before.  I wonder if it would be cost effective?  Netting is so cheap- $.99/yd.   I'll have to look into crinoline for the next poofy dress.

Vogue seems to make their patterns more difficult than necessary.  A friend of mine wants to learn to sew (I am teaching her) and she fell in love w/ 2 Vogue patterns for herself.  I was looking at them and the bodice is the same as my daughter's dress, shoulders last.  It's so strange!  I don't get it, I thought it was b/c there was something special going on w/ the shoulders but no- just stupid pattern writers.  LOL
