I just left my job working at the dollar store and every time I walked around the floor I was always seeing works of art....I want in...

I've never done a challenge before, is anyone able to?.?

I'd definitely prefer that people go specifically to a dollar store but if you really don't have any around you could shop exclusively at the dollar section at Walmart.

oh yay!!! i *love* dollar stores, thanks to dollarama. i'm always going in on my breaks (i work in malls) and buying things i really don't need.

my only problem, i think, because the challange seems to be on the idea of making something a bit unconventional, is going to be not just buying craft supplies, since dollarama has more craft supplies than the craft stores i go to! even if that's not the idea of the challenge, i'd rather do something like that then "hey i bought some scrapbook paper and i'm going to make a book. woo"

oh, is there any way to get a link to the old craft challenge? i'd love to see the previous entries. i will also do a search right now

I ended up not entering the last challenge as I was short on the time, but this one sounds so intriguing that I may just have to MAKE the time. Especially as the Easter holidays are only round the corner.

You are right in pointing out that the main focal point of the project should be unconventional items and not straight-up craft supplies. Thanks for picking up on that.

Here's the link to the last time we did this. Because it was the *first* craft challenge ever, we did it in such a way that people just all posted their projects in one thread rather than how we do it now. And since it was so long ago, some people's picture links are broken now.

This sounds so much like a Project Runway challenge! I can hear Tim Gunn saying:

"Ok designers, your next challenge is to design a garment made entirely out of items collected at this Dollar Store. You have 15 minutes to collect your materials. GO!"

I fussed with and fixed some of the broken photos on the thread last night, but I can't do much for those Photobucket ones, unfortunately.

Remember that ya'll have TEN dollars this round and the first round only had FIVE.  That's quite a shopping spree in the dollar store.
